As a part of my teaching style, I seek to provide a calming and nurturing environment to help ground students' attention in the task at hand and to reduce the agitating effects of distraction. I encourage students to find a calming mental anchor in whatever stressful situation they find themselves both on and off the mat. And finally, I instill in my students that their worth does not depend on their performance of any posture or movement in my class, and that they are fully empowered to choose when and how to expend their energy at any given moment.
