The pandemic has hit teams differently across the state. Some are performing well; some are struggling. Even those doing well, however, are experiencing increased stress. Many team members have school-aged children learning virtually at home. They might have spouses working from home. They might have health concerns. It's likely that they're struggling to maintain a balance between work and home. And if they're working remotely, they are not bonding like usual with their teammates. All these stressors inevitably affect team culture and performance.
How can you, as a business and team leader, create a team culture that both supports them and draws out their best work - so that your business succeeds?
In this interactive session, explore three strategies to build and nurture highly effective team cultures - even in (especially in!) virtual environments:

Meet Our Presenter
Heather Gilmartin Adams
Currently an organizational development consultant and facilitator, Heather Adams brings to her work an abiding passion for personal and organizational transformation. A firm belief in the power of human connection is the underlying thread that led Heather to live all over the world, study international conflict resolution, and choose a career in organizational development and culture change—where she enjoys helping others discover new perspectives, transform relationships, and improve performance. Trained in international peacebuilding and cross-cultural communication, Heather has years of experience working in the federal government and private sector.
For the past three years, Heather worked at the Arbinger Institute, a global mindset-change training and consulting company, as director of marketing and, briefly, product development. Prior to joining Arbinger, Heather was an engagement manager, consultant, and facilitator with a consulting firm that helped organizations identify and transform their cultures in support of business objectives. She also worked for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she partnered with senior executives to improve strategic alignment, processes, and operations. In prior lives, Heather was a peace and security researcher in Hamburg, Germany, an English teacher in China, and, for one summer, a wrangler on a dude ranch in Colorado. She holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Princeton University.
Heather and her husband recently had their first child, a son, and are relishing parenthood. Heather volunteers with an equine therapy program for troubled teenage girls and enjoys skiing, rock climbing, hiking, CrossFit, cooking, and reading.
