Not Meditation Not Medication It’s Mediation

Conflict in the workplace, or any organization, can have a positive outcome through mediation.
A key to conflict - look for miscommunication and unmet expectations. Commercial, paid or volunteers, owners, supervisors, managers, employees and customers - in any combination – can add up to conflict, problems, hurt, anger, disappointment, loss of business, turnover, and less productivity.
This training will touch on how mediation and conflict coaching can be a jumping off point to a great turnaround and when mediation is not the best way to resolve conflict.

Come prepared with examples of previous conflicts to use in a Mock Mediation.
Key learning points:
  •   What is Mediation?
  •   What a Mediation “Looks Like.”
  •   Observe and Participate in a Mock Mediation
Discussion points:
  • When and How Conflict is a Good Thing
  • Lead by Example
  • Set up Ahead of Time or Nip it in the Bud-ASAP
Key takeaways:
  •  Tips that parties have come up with and self-initiated in their workplace
  •  Conflict Coaching
  •  Deescalate/Escalate
  •  Why documenting is important and what information to keep for follow-up
  •  When mediation is not the best choice
 About The Presenter

          Audrey Diaz

Audrey Diaz is a mediator. She has mediated, mostly, in what is labeled “Community Mediation.” She has mediated almost ten years, as a volunteer, for Neighborhood Justice Center and in Las Vegas courts.
Audrey has a Paralegal Studies AAS from College of Southern Nevada. Outside of Community Mediation, Audrey has special interest in Small Business cases, especially family run businesses. And her favorite is – Middle School Students.

Audrey has been married 45 years.  Her husband is a professor at the College of Southern Nevada. They have two grown children, and two granddaughters.
Audrey lives in Las Vegas, but joyfully spends summers in Duck Creek Village. They don’t have a cabin like their friends, they camp in a trailer on their property. Riding a motorcycle on roads and highways with her husband and quads on the mountain are two of her favorite activities.

Currently, Audrey is not mediating. She is either on sabbatical or is retired. She greatly misses mediating and has not yet made a decision.
