Event Description:

Are you a budding woman entrepreneur? Perhaps a struggling - or successful - businesswoman? Or maybe just curious about how mentoring can be an effective tool in building community and support for women operating in the business world? Join DSU Women's Resource Center and the Women's Business Center of Utah in a zoom discussion with women who have gone through this process and want to pass along the wisdom they have gleaned. Hear from women who have traveled the sometimes-uncertain path of business ownership and how important it was to have another woman walk beside them providing encouragement, expertise, and support.

Meet Our Mentoring Experts

Ann Marie Wallace
State Director
Women’s Business Center of Utah

Ann Marie grew up on a dairy farm in northern Utah. Her cow milking days ended when she began attending Snow College and later transferred to Utah State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. After working in Logan and Park City in hotel management for over a decade, she became a WBCUtah client and launched her own small business, concoXions LLC, a specialty drink bartending service in 2010. She was later hired by the WBCUtah to mentor other women and now oversees the center which helped her become an entrepreneur.

Debbie Drake
Program Director
Women's Business Center of Utah

Debbie Drake is affectionately known as a ‘squirrel girl’ by her close and crazy friends! She has a lot of interests and always wants to learn new things. Debbie has had careers in banking, construction, and higher education and has been a home designer, artist, and is passionate about helping women be successful in building their businesses and following their dreams. She is currently the Director for Women’s Business Center of Utah in Cedar City and is charged with serving the women business owners in the 15 southern and eastern counties of Utah. The Women’s Business Center of Utah provides free one on one counseling and free or low-cost training while helping to encourage, build confidence, and create opportunities for women to be successful in their entrepreneurial journey.

Amber Murray
Business Advisor
Women's Business Center of Utah
Owner - See Your Strength

Amber has been an entrepreneur her whole life and has owned numerous businesses. Even as a young child, she was selling cinnamon toothpicks on the school bus to her classmates. Currently, Amber is the owner of See Your Strength, a business that promotes love, hope, encouragement, self-compassion, and teaches people how to access those feelings within themselves. Acknowledging our feelings and talking to ourselves with compassion can be one of the hardest skills to learn. See Your Strength accomplishes this mission through positive message mirror decals, hope walls, and suicide prevention resources.

Amber is not only a business owner but a full-time Business Advisor for the Women’s Business Center of Utah. Amber loves helping those who are just starting in business or have that dream in their heart of entrepreneurship. When thinking about mentoring or helping someone at that level her best advice is, “The key is execution. Before you start the business, take an inventory of yourself, ask yourself if you are the type of person who executes things. If the answer is yes, then run towards it as fast as you can.”

Meet Our Mentees

Jill Armijo
Jill Armijo: Caregivers

Jill Armijo lives in Lehi, Utah with her husband and her furball, a terrier mix with little-dog syndrome. They have three grown, amazing sons, and the most adorable granddaughter ever. She enjoys reading and writing, eating, running, playing outside, camping, and hiking.

Jill became her husband's caregiver in the late 1990s, as a young mother of two little boys, and the youngest on the way. She spent many years trying to get her husband to change back into the man she once knew, following his service in the Gulf War. She's realized that he's wonderful just as he is, because of all they've been through together, and his faithful devotion to his family and God.

In her coaching practice, Jill helps caregivers who feel frustrated, overwhelmed, and need more "ME time" to get help, get peace, and create the life they want and deserve. You connect with Jill at
